Updates search?
I must confess I looove the "updates" section. But since stuff is added very often you only get to see the last few hours.
So I was wondering if you guys could add some sort of advanced search that lets you check older updates and more results, for example filtering by "last X days", "only new additions" and stuff like that. I think it'd be pretty useful. Also, in the updates->scans section could you add the name of the album? It's a bit hard to follow with only the catalog number... |

Seconded. I haven't been able to check every day lately so I miss a lot of the new additions.

I'm working on submission timelines for individual users at the moment, which I can then port over to general submission updates once it's done.

This is something I wanted for a while too, but never figured out a good way to do it with the current updates code. Another useful thing would be to key it to your cookies, so that you can see the updates that occured since your last login.

Bumping this to see if there is any news about the feature.. next year maybe?
Or could we have at least more than 1 page on the "Recent Updates" pages. |

Can't you see all new albums as they're added via the VGMdb Twitter feed? Not that having the feature integrated into the site itself wouldn't be welcome, but there is at least an alternative.

Like Myrkul said, wouldn't it be possible to just have multiple pages of update history?

That's another way to do it, too.
The Twitter feed only shows new albums, not edits. Strangely, we (actually, not so much me this time) are currently adding new albums and other content to the database at the fastest rate since the aftermath of C73 back in January 2008. One result of that is that the recent update pages rarely even show a whole day's edits now. |

Okay, a primitive paging system has been implemented. You can now page your way back through past edits using the pair of links at the bottom of the Updates pages.
This feature is currently not available to Guests, so you have to be logged in. We'll make it available once I am assured that the world's searchbots aren't going to try to index 10,000 new dynamic pages. |

Nice, but it looks like the layout got a bit messed up when viewing as a guest now.

I had accidentally moved the legend inside the block that guest's couldn't view. It looks fine to me now in Firefox and IE. Is it fixed for you?

Yep, fine now.

This is great, thanks a lot. The tracklist/scans pages look a little funky with filters on but you probably knew.

Yeah. It's because when we delete stuff, it removes entries from the tables, so we have to search across additional tables after the initial search. The only way I can see to remedy this is to not show scans/tracklist deletion in the updates. With the pagination though, it doesn't really matter.
I don't know why I didn't think of doing it this way sooner. I was hung up on having dropdown boxes with month date and year, but getting that to work was going to be kind of messy. |
