One of the database tables (forum related) crashed and needed to be repaired. Apologies for the downtime.

I'm not an active member of the forum but i do visit the site everyday ... i'm just too shocked for the sudden error page when i'm trying to access it since the last 2 days ... btw do we have another active page/blog where we can get to see the announcement when something like this occured? Sorry for my poor english and thanks for your (and the other staff?) hardworks ...

I respect and appreciate all the time, work, effort, and money that goes into maintaining this site but can we please implement a long-term plan to resolve some of these crippling issues? The database has corrupted tables at least 4 times that I can remember in the last 6 months, plus there is still the rampant issue of site-wide database latency that happens almost nightly.

Are there plans to migrate the database? Plans to bring on additional developers? Plans to better communicate site work? Anything we can do to help?

It's frustrating and disheartening to put so much of our time into something we are all very passionate about to be plagued by these kinds of problems for over 2 years+ now.

Also to add to it.. search also is affected by it.

I think we need to wait for blah to wake up again

Yes, that involves me migrating the database to a cloud hosted solution over the weekend + labour day holiday.

Hm, why not repair them automatically?
SHOW TABLE STATUS; would list all tables marked crashed. REPAIR TABLE <tablename>; repairs it.
For that matter what makes those tables crash? Hardware issues?

The site still has problems on my side. Sometimes it loads fine, but sometimes it takes between 30 seconds and several minutes to load. Sometimes it just doesn't load at all.

I recently switched over a large (25gb) content management system over to Google Cloud/Compute Engine and thoroughly recommend it. LAMP comes prepackaged, can be recompiled. Lemme know if there's room to help with server management/db management/hosting.

Also, if vgmdb were to have a Patreon to help cover hosting costs, I'd be chipping in day one.

I was just looking around to see if there was anything like this. Figured I might as well cover the costs to keep my scans up.

Don't worry about the media files, they're already hosted on Amazon S3. (That migration, among others, consumed much of my development efforts in recent years.)

confirmed Album database down too. Member list is also down. Its spread to other parts aside from artist list.

I did a repair on the artist table. Please let us know if there are any other pages or functions that have stopped working.

I noticed viewing User Profiles gets a popup to install Flash 6 or later. I already have latest Flash.

Hm, it doesn't do that for me. Not sure that is on our end.

I receive this notification too when you look at a user's forum profile.

The pop-up browser alert window reads,

"VGMdb.net says:
You need Adobe Flash Player 6 (or above) to view the charts. It is a free and lightweight installation from Adobe.com. Please click on Ok to install the same."

It might be something that VBulletin uses on that page.

Nothing to do with this topic, it's the ratings graph.
