The "Submissions" page for users now has tabs for artists, tracklists, organizations and products.
Barcode added to album pages. It doesn't show up if the field is empty.
Removed unused "Series & Products" section from "Manage Links".

Added new roles: Sound Producer, Sound Director, Recording Studio, Mixing Studio, Mastering Studio.
Secondary roles will now appear on albums if not empty.
Click the "[Extra Credits]" link on the top right of the album info to switch between them and the main credits.
Added media type column to simple search results.
Added all roles to the "Credited works" section of artists instead of just the 4 main ones, sorted by amount of credits.
You can now search for barcodes using the simple search. Searching for a complete barcode will bring up the album if found.
Added duplicate warning for barcodes when adding a new album.
Added "*" to search for non-empty fields in advanced search.
Added artist notes to advanced search fields.
Fixed shop links when using https:// or omitting "www." from the link.
Amazon http links are no longer hidden.
Added "Batch Link Artists" to "Manage Artists".
This will allow editors to quickly add a comma-separated list of artists for secondary roles like Engineers.

Added product release date to simple search results.
Added product coloring and release date to advanced search results.
Artist alias list is now sorted alphabetically.
Added row highlighting on mouseover for unit members in "Edit Artist".
Unlinked unit members with red suggestions (multiple entries with the same name) are no longer checked by default. Same behavior as album links.
Added advanced search ID to result page.
Added a mass link function for artists in "Manage Credits" based on advanced search results. (Staff only)

Added a new subformat field for certain media types.
CD: Mini CD, CD-R
Vinyl and Flexi Disc: Size and RPM
Added a new "A-Side Tracks" field for Vinyl, Cassette and Flexi Disc.
Setting this to a number, for example 5, will automatically show the sides separation in the tracklist. This info should be removed from the album notes.
This data is not inherited from child albums, so it will be possible to have CD reprints of Vinyls without having the side info in the CD entry.
Disc headers in tracklist now also show the media format and catalog. They are hidden if they're all the same, and the same as the album catalog.
Copy Protection field for media is now hidden for formats other than CD and DVD.
Artist name conflicts in album "Manage Artists" now also show the amount of works for that particular role. The list is also sorted based on that amount.
Tweaked simple search header alignment.

Added a new favicon (thanks nextday!)
Empty tracks in tracklists will now appear as "(no title available)", in a different color. Example
Added "Sony PlayStation 5" and "Microsoft Xbox Series X" to platforms.
Added CD-ROM and Mini CD-R to CD subformats.
Added "Studio" and "Sub-studio" types to artists, same behavior as unit and unit alias.
They are excluded from the artist statistics, and appear separated from staff members on organizations.
Sub-studios are also separated from normal aliases in the Studio page.

Added Open Graph and Twitter Cards support to album pages.
Added Media changes to Album History pages. Also added tab navigation.
Media classification added to album disc headers (same behavior as catalog/format).
Advanced Search "Track Titles contain" now only looks for full words, but it's much faster (thanks SS!)
It's now possible to set the "Birthplace" for Studios. This will show up as Location on their page.
"Formed" and "Dissolved" were also changed to "Opened" and "Closed" for Studios.
Studios will now appear separated from Units on member pages.
Added Portraits tab to "My Submissions".
The tab order in "My Submissions" is now the same as the recent updates order.
Added missing edit history arrow link for product releases.
Fixed an issue with tracks named "0" not appearing.

Added .webp support for image upload (album scans, artist portraits, product/organization logos).
HTTP images in posts and signatures are now automatically replaced with HTTPS links to avoid mixed content errors.
Fixed JASRAC links with old format in forum posts.

Disc length is now separated by side for cassette and vinyls.
Disc and side lengths are now hidden when there are no times in the tracklist.
Added missing media information in "Just Added" and "Upcoming" album pages.

New organization -> album link system.
Some new roles have been added for organizations to help us represent organizations associated with releases more extensively, and also to try any make things more consistent between Japanese record companies.
The feature is currently staff-only while we go through most entries, it will be open to all Trusted Editors after that's done.
A new thread will be posted in the "Guides and FAQs" forum with the new guidelines for using the field.
Added hyperlinks for "Added/Modified by" usernames in most pages.
Fixed "Just Added" and "Upcoming Albums" pages when using filters.

Album pages will now show the region of the album even if the release price is "Unknown", "Not for Sale" or "Free".
The region is still hidden for Digital-only free album.
Products and product releases will now show the region instead of the currency.
Added a "View Submissions" quick link on user profiles.
Organization type changes are now properly tracked and show up correctly in the history.
Moved Manufacturer role before Distributor.
Reverse propagation of organizations now uses the same order as the album display.
Several improvements to the organization -> album link tool.
Fixed "Track Titles contain" advanced search when using multiple words.

Added a disambiguation field to organizations and products.
This is meant to be used when multiple organizations or products have the same name and it will show up in searches and while linking them.
The "Add Covers" upload box is now resizable.
Fixed search tabs not working when making a quoted search.
The organization order displayed in albums is now sorted depending on role/organization name instead of being sorted by link order.
Fixed organization reverse propagation compare with the original field.

Added subtracks, examples: https://vgmdb.net/album/40468 https://vgmdb.net/album/53108
These can be added by trusted editors and above by clicking the arrow to the right of tracks in the "Edit Tracklist" menu.
While adding them, you can click the icon on the left to remove one if you added too many, but once the changes are submitted you will not be able to remove the tracks.
Once they are added, anyone can edit them and they go through the usual modqueue.
Please note that these should be added only when the track separation is presented in the album itself, like in the two examples above. If you're not sure about an album you can ask in the #edits channel on Discord.
The CDDB lookup will ignore these tracks while looking for album matches.
Trusted editors and above will now be able to add tracks at the end of a disc, without having to resubmit the tracklist.
This can be done by clicking "Add New Track" at the bottom of a disc in the "Edit Tracklist" menu.
Like with subtracks, you can click the icon on the left to remove one if you added too many, but once the changes are submitted you will not be able to remove the tracks.
Added mouse highlighting to tracklists.
Non-standard spaces will now automatically be replaced with normal spaces when submitting or editing tracklists.
Removed Staff Notes from albums.
Fixed an issue with the organization link tool.

The Edit Tracklist box now properly handles existing and new subtracks by indenting them.
Added a new "Transfer title, length and subtracks" option for trusted editor+ to automatically create new subtracks in the tracklist when pasting indented subtracks in the box.
Subtracks can be indented with spaces or tabs.

All non-standard spaces are now replaced with normal spaces when using the Edit Tracklist box, making it possible to paste tracklists separated by tabs (for example from yodobashi).
The album/artist/product/organization link in discussion threads will now appear in the first post of every page instead of just in the first one.
Added disambiguation to Browse Products and Browse Organizations pages.
Fixed several issues with subtrack times and multiple tracklists.
Fixed an issue with adding new tracks when the last track had a subtrack.

Unlinked products and organizations are now clickable links that lead to a search for albums that contain that product/org name in the respective field.

Editors are encouraged to "link" products and organizations even if we don't have entries for them.
Added DVD-ROM subformat.
Added release date in "Browse Products" page.
Added color legend in "Browse Products", product, organization and event pages.
Sub-product release dates in franchises are now in YYYY-MM-DD format instead of YYYY-M-D.
Removed Notes field from products. All existing notes have been moved to the Description field, which now supports line breaks.
Tracks named "[Data Track]" (case insensitive) will now appear as "(data track)" in the tracklist, with a different color.
It's now possible to leave discs empty when submitting a new tracklist, for those albums where the bonus disc shouldn't have one.
"Add New Track" in the "Edit Tracklist" page now also works if the disc tracklist is empty.

New Artist -> Product and Organization -> Product link systems. Game Example, Anime Example
This will allow editors to link artists and organizations with products from the "Manage Artists/Orgs" link in products and releases.
Normally, artists and organizations should only be linked to releases and they will be automatically grouped up on the product.
A new "Products" tab will appear on artists and organizations with linked products. Switching to this tab will also change the Recent Albums list to a list of products.
The site-wide album filter also works on the artists Products tab.
Note: this feature is currently experimental and available to staff only.
Releases can now have Images uploaded, similar to album scans. This is meant to be used for uploading credits pictures from staff rolls or game manuals. Example
New Artist roles (including albums): Music Producer, Music Director, Vocal Director, Editor.
"SFX Artist" renamed to "Sound Effects".
Existing roles have also been reordered.
New Artist roles (for products only): Sound, Sound Designer, Sound Engineer, Sound Support.
Releases can now have a different logo from the parent product. If they have none, they will inherit the product logo.
Releases on product pages are now ordered from oldest to newest, and grouped up under the respective parent release.
Added a URL rewrite for releases, the link is now /release/*id*
Products will appear in the main page, under "What's New" as well as a new "Products Just Added" section, with a different border.
The "Recent Updates" tabs will now show an arrow linking to the history page for edits.
Fixed an issue with small covers not uploading correctly and appearing duplicated.

Product Credits improvements:
Song credits are now separated from BGM/General Sound credits, and will show up differently on artist pages. This allows to tell at a glance if a product credit in a discography is for BGM.
Child releases can have more complex relationships, and have additional credits or not inherit song credits. This is especially useful for other region releases where the only difference are songs in a different language. These new child releases can also have other childs.
Several other minor fixes and tweaks.
Icons for albums in your Collection or Wishlist have been added to the following pages:
Simple search results
Advanced search results
Browse Albums page
EDIT: the icons are now hidden behind an option. You can enable it by clicking the gear on the top right of the screen.
The Browse Albums page now uses a more consistent reprint icon, and the discussion icon also links to the forum thread.
Product entries on organizations will now show the release name instead of the product name.
Country flags are not repeated anymore in products pages when they are the same.
Featured albums/product don't appear in artists Latest Works anymore.
The "Save Changes" button for scans/release images now appears when uploading the first scan without having to reload the page.
Some platform names have been shortened further when displayed in organizations and products.
The album and products list don't appear anymore on organizations without any linked.
Simple search results now default to the first non-empty tab.
Increased the maximum file size for logos.
It's no longer possible to stitch albums if the child album has artists/products linked.

Added an option to enable the collection/wishlist icons. They will now also show up in artists, products and organizations discographies when enabled.

Added a calendar for product releases. It can be accessed by clicking the "Products" link on the top left of the album calendar.
Product release dates in searches are now links to the new product calendar.
Added new vinyl size options: 5", 5½", 6", 6½". Removed 16".
Added new vinyl RPM options for mixed side speeds.
Fixed unspecified product dates in searches and recent products.
Products without releases can now have song credits.
Unit members linking is now more consistent with album linking, showing matches for names in kanji.
Unicode spaces in non-advanced searches are replaced with normal ones, making it possible to search for artists copied from japanese sources more easily.
Renamed "TV Special" to just "Special".
It's no longer possible to delete an album with child albums.

The backend software of the server was updated, bringing performance and stability improvements.
The "Show New Private Message Nofication Pop-up" option is now enabled by default for new accounts. We recommend turning it on if you're editing entries on the site to avoid missing important PMs from Staff. You can find the option here.

New role system. Instead of a limited role list, VGMdb will contain a database of roles which can be added and edited by staff.
If you're an editor, see this post for more info.
Added a twitter-like mention system to the forum. Writing @username in a post will automatically notify that user about the post.
Linked and unlinked artists are now in the same section when linking them to products.
Artist discographies will now show the collection icon if a reprint of the album is included in the user's collection. Same for wishlists.
Fixed product credits sorting when having multiple parent releases with the same date. (https://vgmdb.net/product/8742)

Role aliases are now shown in the product page instead of the main role name. If roles with a Japanese name are linked, users can use the "Title / Name Language" option set to "Original" to see the original Japanese credits, alongside the Japanese names of the artists.
Artist discographies still show the main role name for consistency, and show the role alias on mouseover.
The owner of organizations is now at the beginning of the members list even if they joined the organization at a later time.
The vertical limit for the product credits box has been increased.
Fixed wrong media count when an album is added multiple times to the user collection/wishlist.
Fixed several minor issues with the new role system.
